House with Heart daughter, Manu Shrestha, now a Registered Nurse in Vermont, returned to House with Heart this summer to give a workshop on HPV vaccines and menstrual and reproductive health.

Cervical cancer is the NUMBER ONE cancer killer of Nepali women. Most of these deaths can be prevented with vaccines targeting the human papillomavirus (HPV) - the leading cause of this deadly cancer. House with Heart is committed to be a part of this prevention, starting with our girls. These vaccines are prohibitively expensive, and we need your help.

Our immediate goal is to provide vaccines for fifty girls and young women – House with Heart daughters and young women in the local Kathmandu community. This will cost approximately $6,000. We hope to raise this amount in one month, by October 10th, 2024.

More than thirty girls from the House and the local community attended the workshop in our Wellness Center. Most were between thirteen and sixteen years old - the target age for the first round of HPV immunizations.

As you can see, the girls were fully engaged and had many questions.
